  Process

Each sculpture is individually modeled by hand. The clay sculpture is then colored with underglazes and bisque fired, followed by multiple glaze firings.

The Lizard skin texture is created by a uniquely formulated glaze. This glaze is senstive to applied thickness and firing temperature. The thicker the glaze, the larger the "skin" pattern. The cooler the kiln firing, the "dryer" the skin texture. Minute variations in the skin pattern are achieved with an airbrush. Each piece is fired individually for accurate even heat to achieve the desired texture.
